Gary Bertini
The late Gary Bertini.
Winner of the Israel Prize. He was a conductor, composer and a professor of music at the Tel Aviv music academy. He was the founder and musical director of many musical entities, including the“Rinat” choir in 1955 and the Israel Chamber Ensemble, today known as the Israel Chamber Orchestra- in 1965. He served as the Musical Director of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchesstra and as the Artistic Director of the New Israeli Opera company.
Bertini Directed and Conducted many leading orchestras all over the world and also in some major Opera Houses such as La Scala in Milano, Munich, Hamburg and Paris. Towards the end of his life he served as musical director of the Metroplitan Opera in Tokyo and Teatro San Carlo in Naples.
